More Lucid Dreaming Techniques

Let me share with you my personal lucid dreaming experiences. Ever since I was very young, I thought it was a normal thing for everybody to dream such vivid dreams wherein upon waking, you could still remember the conversations you'd have with people (or animals), or remember in such keen detail the buildings and places you've visited in a dream.

I thought it was what everyone experienced, when one would encounter recurring dreams you would, at some point in that sweet slumber, realize it was a dream and eventually take control to correct the mistakes you've done in the previous exact same dream. Sort of like deja vu in the dream world.

I had thought that everyone knew how to be in control in their dreams. Like those amazing flying ones, where you'd soar above clouds and direct yourself to go to that mountain over there or to that lake far beyond.
Apparently, I was already doing lucid dreaming and I was not aware of it.

Recently, I was having a battle with Lucid Dream itself. How so? Well, as I was dreaming that I was in some kind of special-ops team on a mission, of my our guys was telling us that this was all like a dream, and I insisted on him that we were awake, that we were in the real world. I had taken out the glove on my hand, closed my fist, and I told him to watch me. I was going to do a "reality check".

If I could count all of my five fingers in two rounds without hesitation, it meant that we were not dreaming. So I started counting, the first round was easy as pie. But the second round, I was having trouble getting the last three of my fingers up. It was like my fingers did not want to cooperate. That's when the guy started chuckling. That's when I realized we were actually all dreaming.

I've never had this sort sort of lucid dream experience where it was another person within my dream who told me that where we were at was not reality. Quite intriguing, actually.

Anyway, to do lucid dreaming, some people can do it so easily while others can take years before even experiencing their first. Sometimes, if you push yourself too much to want to lucid dream, it never happens.

But we found some very helpful tips that could get you started, to train your mind to achieve and finally experience a lucid dream.

Different things to do to have a lucid dream:
  • Have a dream journal. Write down as much as what you can remember about the dream. Keywords are good, like an object or a person, or a type of building or atmospheric ambiance. What was it that you recall? Even if it would sound insignificant like a floating bubble or a muddy floor, write it down. Who knows, you might see a pattern or similarity in the keywords you've written down.

  • Do simple "reality checks". What does this mean? As mundane as it sounds, reality checks are just what it sounds like. Look at your self in the mirror and ask yourself, "Am I dreaming?" Pinch your nose and try to breathe, but of course do not try to stop breathing. Know your limits. We don't want any of you fainting over.

    • The Hand/Palm technique is one of these reality checks.  Many people have been doing this, and it's fairly easy. Look at your hand, or your palm, and trace any kind of recallable symbol on it. Like maybe the first letter of your name. Or you could count your fingers in two rounds, just like how I did in my reality check. Once you train your mind of this awake technique, you'll discover that you won't be able to complete your own security lock if you are dreaming. Why? Because our mind constantly shifts and changes, especially in the dream. And if you force it to follow certain steps such as counting your fingers, your mind will feel that it is too tedious a work effort to do.

  • Basic meditation can greatly increase your chances of experiencing a lucid dream. Even for just 10 minutes a day, be One with yourself and your serene surroundings. Be aware of all and of nothing.

  • Listen to binaural beats and/or isochronic audio tracks that are dedicated to triggering lucid dreaming. You can do this before or during your sleeping or nap time. Nap times can actually give lots of vivid dreams compared to your regular nightly sleep sessions.

  • Tell yourself just before you doze off that you will have a lucid dream. Or, you can plant the scenario of the kind of dream you want in your head. Remember how easy it is to daydream, especially when you were bored?  It's like creating a short movie or screenplay using the powers of your imagination. I didn't realize I was doing this method when I was a kid. No wonder it seemed like I would enter the dream I was thinking about.

  • Watch fiction movies that will inspire you to have vivid dreams, like Inception or Interstellar. Usually, fantasy or sci-fi types of movies already creates an other-worldly atmosphere that would be perfect to match the type of "craziness" we would encounter during the dreams.

  • Repeat this Mantra: "Mind awake. Body Asleep." This actually can also work for those who want to experience a astral projection.

  • There is such a thing as "Dream Yoga". I didn't even know about this until I read it during my research. This is an ancient art from Tibetan Buddhism. I will read more about this after writing this article, as it has sparked my interest, of course.

  • Wake yourself up at odd time intervals during your sleeping sessions. This is also known as "false awakenings". The best time, as far as I've researched, is to wake yourself every 90 minutes, which is a likely time for you to get some REM (Rapid Eye Movement) happenings. REM is also known as the dream-phase. And upon your false awakening, you need to remember the reason for your sleep disruption, and if you can, try to recall the dream you just had (that is, if you've had any) and go back to sleep. This can cause you to also continue the dream you just had. I know it worked for me.

  • To achieve lucid dreaming at a conscious level, you also need to let go of fear first. Emotions run deep within us, and they are amazing triggers to each and every cell of our body, and what more, the mind. If you feed yourself with fear, most likely you'll experience nightmares of sorts. But if you let go of fear, the better you will get at controlling your dreams completely. In lucid dreaming, the only thing to fear is your negative thoughts you bring to the dreaming world.

  • Get a good night's rest. Lack of sleep will not do anything to help you achieve lucid dreaming.

  • Keep a glass of water or any kind of object that you know you will consciously need on your bedside table. During one of my lucid dream experiences, (actually, this could be an astral projection experience too), I was taking my 1-hour long afternoon nap. Of course I had no idea I had fallen so deep in sleep. When I opened my eyes, I saw that the sun had just set, leaving the world outside my window with a tinge of blue-gray colors. I turned to my side and reached out my hand to turn on my bedside lamp, but I noticed that my hand would just go through the switch. I kept trying and trying but then I would wake up every time I tried to turn the light on. Like a dream within a dream. And I was amazed that I seemed like a ghost, and I thought, "This couldn't be real." And that's when I realized I was dreaming. Upon that realization, I told myself, "I want to fly." And I began to lift up towards the ceiling. Of course it all ended when I got too excited and too greedy to do more than I was allowed to at the time.

We hope you've found this article helpful! Share your lucid dreaming experience with us at the comments section! You know that we love hearing from you guys.

Are Binaural Beats Safe for Children?

ARE BINAURAL BEATS & ISOCHRONIC TONES
SAFE FOR CHILDREN?

We would sometimes get questions from our Brainwave Power Music community, asking us if it is safe for children to listen to binaural beats. We say yes, they definitely are. But take note, there are certain things to take into consideration and be cautious with before allowing your little ones to put those headsets on and try to dabble with brainwave entrainment frequencies.

First of all, here's a quick list of the different types of binaural brainwave frequencies:
  • Beta: 14-30Hz and are are associated with an awake, normal alert state of consciousness.
  • Alpha: 9-13Hz and are associated with a relaxed, calm and lucid state of conscious and subconscious awareness, and is mostly related to the learning frequencies. It is also related to focused attention and intuition and is known as the healthiest brainwave range.
  • Theta: 4-8Hz are associated with deep relaxation and meditative-state, and is also where dreams, visions, and is more in contact with the unconscious mind. You also reach this frequency when free-flowing ideas and creativity sparks your mind. This frequency bracket would often peak during spiritual experiences, too.
  • Delta: 1-3Hz are associated with a deep, dreamless sleep. This is the slowest mind frequency and where your unconscious automatic processes mainly occur. Delta is considered to be the bridge to Carl Jung's "collective unconscious".

Children below 13 years old have a very natural, very different brainwave pattern compared to teenagers and adults, such as they have much higher levels of alpha brainwaves. Toddlers would often be in Theta, and this is probably why their minds are easily influenced and can absorb information quickly, like a sponge, as they say. Infants, on the other hand, have more of the Delta waves happening within them.

One of the safest tone frequency groups to use for the young ones would be the Sleep or Calming frequencies, as these patterns are at the same waves as with kids and babies. It would be better to use the binaural beat mixed with isochronic tones so there wouldn't be a need to put on uncomfortable headphones or headsets on the children while they try to sleep.

The next type of safe binaurals would be associated with focus, or the Study Aids, and with these we advise to have them listen to it at the start of their study sessions at home.

We had also created a very special binaural frequency sound therapy for those who have ADD or ADHD, kids and adults alike.

There isn't really much helpful information on the web that relates to children and binaural frequencies, but if you understand well enough the uses and benefits of these tones, you can be the judge of that.

For us, we would strongly advise to only use binaural beats and isochronic tones on children based only on the situation or the type of need for it. The kids should listen to one type of brainwave entrainment frequency group a day. That is, for us, the best.

The reason behind why we tell you to take precaution is because we do not want to disrupt the natural brainwave patterns that occur in children. Quite the same sentiment we have about how too much of watching television can cause sensations of lethargy and laziness, or the effects when one uses the computer or tablets or smart phones for hours on end. Doing too much of one thing can be unfavorable to you and your young ones' health.

Bottom line, yes. Binaural Beats are safe for the young ones, as long as it is done under adult supervision. For parents or guardians, make sure to ask your kids how they are feeling during or after listening to these tones. For those with infants, observe your child's behavior when using sleep or relaxing sound therapy tones.

Famous People Who Know What Being Awakened Is All About

What does it mean to be "Awakened"? You might have come across this term every now and then, and perhaps wondered what these people were even talking about. Not to be confused with "New Age Religion", being awakened dives deeper into the spiritual aspects of who and what we are. There is a door that is slightly ajar, waiting for you to discover what lies beyond.  There is so much more than just being religious, because often times it is Religion itself that creates division among the people. Being "awakened" has been taught by the Buddha, by Christ, by prophets and philosophers of old times. To be "awake" simply means you have been enlightened into understanding the need for compassion, humility and love towards everything and anything.. To finally "See" simply means you understand of the world within you and around you, leaving behind the egocentric self that drives greed, selfishness and envy. Being awakened and with a spiritual understanding embraces all religions, all cultural differences.

There is a huge awakening movement happening all over the world, and at a faster pace now than ever before. Thanks to the wonderful world of the web, information has never been accessible at such lightning speed as it is now. We have this drive to do our own research into learning new things about One Consciousness. The growth of technology has, quite interestingly, also led many people back to the appreciation of what mother nature can give, making people more interested in organic food and natural health remedies. There is something deep within you that calls out, wanting to reach out and find self-worth and self-love.

Unfortunately, not many voice out the curiosity and the sharing of what being awakened is. Many still find it difficult to talk about it with others, in fear of being ridiculed and casted as a crazy person. But you'll be surprised at how many others are just like you, in that same state of mind.

These famous people, that we've listed below, have revealed themselves as being Consciously Awakened. They push aside ridicule and criticism because they firmly believe in their spiritual journey, their thoughts of what the world's governments are doing (and not doing) for their people, and the big change we all need to do and start within ourselves. That we are all part of a grand scheme of things, all inter-connected and all One. That the reality we live in is a reflection of our spirit, our souls, and that we are on a journey to experience Life, be it good or bad. We are part of this One Source that has no name, no hierarchy, no discrimination. That the world we live in are like mirrored layers of mysterious and unexplainable connections to what is inside us, and what is out there.

As above, so below.

Be inspired and learn what there is to know about being Awakened through these famous people.

RUSSELL BRAND

Having become famous for his crazy antics and wild eyes, this comedian-host-turned-actor is now voicing out his stand on this Consciousness Revolution. Having experienced so much self-inflicting abuse, like alcohol and drug problems, there was a point in his life where he did a complete turnaround, leaving behind the kind of dangerous lifestyle a celebrity could go through. He is now an advocate for helping others in getting the correct and proper treatment of drug and alcohol rehabilitation and is not afraid of what he thinks about governments and politics. Hearing all the things he has to say, you'll realize that this amazing human being talks so much intellectual sense about his views on religion, spirituality, about who we are and the difference between relaying on the materialistic, physical senses compared to Consciousness as a whole.

JIM CARREY

One of our generation's funniest men, it would come as quite a surprise to those who would recently discover that he spoke of Consciousness and Spirituality, and of what it feels like to be awakened. He was also very active in this anti-vaccine campaign. Carey speaks of unknowingly being on a spiritual journey, of finding ones self even when he was a kid.

BILLY CORGAN

Lead vocalist of the Smashing Pumpkins has been voicing out his opinions about politics and the noticeable spiritual awakening that's happening all around the world. You can hear the deep understanding he has of what it means to be awakened in one of his interviews, and how society is being brainwashed into believing that material social status need is more important than feeding our spirit with love and compassion for others.

JOE ROGAN

Stand-up comedian, actor, host and UFC commentator, one wouldn't have imagined his dedication and enthusiasm of what he has learned from his awakening experiences. He hosts a podcast show called "The Joe Rogan Experience" where they talk about mysteries of the world, politics, changes we need to do for ourselves and for the betterment of others. He's a perfect example of an individual who has an open mind and clearly shows this no matter who he is or what he does.

SHIRLEY MACLAINE

This iconic actress began to voice out her thoughts of spirituality, of aliens and of being in contact with otherworldly beings in a transcendental sense. Her books, Out on a Limb and The Camino, engages viewers into her personal experiences that led her from living the Hollywood lifestyle to the humbling aspects and practices of spirituality, which every human being should get to discover and understand and reflect upon. She tells of a journey of how she came to find herself and the questions of the why's of being "contacted" and who she is now because of all those experiences.

Celebrities who are into Music and Sound Therapy

Here's a list of famous people who use and are great supporters to Music Therapy!

Ben Folds, the musician behind Ben Folds Five, is a member of the distinguished Artist Committee for Americans for The Arts, Folds is a leading outspoken advocate for music therapy and music education, and recently participated in a special conference at Sundance Resort that explored how music and art therapy can help a nation’s military veterans.

Joey Fatone of N'SYNC established the The Fatone Family Foundation, which uses a Healing Harmony Music Therapy Program that is making a difference in the lives of the patients at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, Florida.

Mickey Hart, the former drummer for the Grateful Dead, has connected with the American Music Therapy Association in the past. In fact, in the film “The Music Never Stopped,” the Grateful Dead played an important role in the plot surrounding the main character.

Did you know that he had an album collaboration with the Universe? (*wink)

His new album, called "Mysterium Tremendum" explores the cosmic sounds of the universe, using electromagnetic radiation from other planets and stars, and made them audible through the process of sonification.

Check it out HERE!

Do you have tinnitus? Apparently, these famous people do!

Did you know that Barbra Streisand suffers from tinnitus? And that Beethoven had also heard these constant whistles and buzz noises all throughout his life? Even Will.i.am. hears beeping sounds everyday, which means he has never really heard utter silence.

The effects of having tinnitus can actually affect a person's behavior and personality. Beethoven was known for his awful temperament, and Streisand has had her bouts of bad temper, blaming her tinnitus. Surprisingly, tinnitus can lead to depression, and the causes have been linked to thyroid conditions, tumors and anemia.

There is such a thing as Tinnitus Retraining Therapy, or TRT, which is similar to behavioral therapy but involves more relaxation techniques. TRT also uses counseling and sound therapy to help in the coping process. It doesn't necessarily mean that these are cures to the condition, but these types of therapies aim to help the individual become less focused on the ringing that they hear, creating a good distraction.

Other alternatives to helping people cope with tinnitus is listening to white noise or the soothing sounds of rain or the crashing of waves upon the shore.

So what is Music Therapy?
Music Therapy is an established healthcare profession that uses music to address physical, emotional, cognitive, social and spiritual needs of individuals of all ages. Music therapy improves the quality of life for persons who are well and meets the needs of children and adults with disabilities or illnesses.

Music therapy is an allied health profession and one of the expressive therapies, consisting of a process in which a music therapist uses music and all of its facets—physical, emotional, mental, social, aesthetic, and spiritual—to help clients improve their physical and mental health. Music therapists primarily help clients improve their health in several domains, such as cognitive functioning, motor skills, emotional development, social skills, and quality of life, by using music experiences such as free improvisation, singing, and listening to, discussing, and moving to music to achieve treatment goals. It has a wide qualitative and quantitative research literature base and incorporates clinical therapy, psychotherapy, biomusicology, musical acoustics, music theory, psychoacoustics, embodied music cognition, aesthetics of music, sensory integration, and comparative musicology. Referrals to music therapy services may be made by other health care professionals such as physicians, psychologists, physical therapists, and occupational therapists. Clients can also choose to pursue music therapy services without a referral (i.e., self-referral).

Music therapists are found in nearly every area of the helping professions. Some commonly found practices include developmental work (communication, motor skills, etc.) with individuals with special needs, songwriting and listening in reminiscence/orientation work with the elderly, processing and relaxation work, and rhythmic entrainment for physical rehabilitation in stroke victims. Music therapy is also used in some medical hospitals, cancer centers, schools, alcohol and drug recovery programs, psychiatric hospitals, and correctional facilities.

Famous People who Lucid Dream

We found an awesome list of celebrities and famous people who do Lucid Dreaming!

Nikola Tesla
In the sphere of science, the dreaming mind of Nikola Tesla, one of the most fascinating scientists of the 20th century, was able to make entire prototype tests and designs of his inventions only using power of his mind, dreams and visualization.
There are three moments in which he preceded the implementation of his achievements:
  • Imagination
In the book „My Inventions: The Autobiography of Nikola Tesla“, Tesla said about imagination and early impulses: „Our first endeavors are purely instinctive, promptings of an imagination vivid and undisciplined. Those early impulses, though not immediately productive, are of the greatest moment and may shape our very destinies. Indeed, I feel now that had I understood and cultivated instead of suppressing them, I would have added substantial value to my bequest to the world. But not until I had attained manhood did I realize that I was an inventor.“
  • Visualization
Tesla had strong power of visualization. His power of visualization was so brilliant that he could clearly see an object that even didn’t existed in the real world. He was able to make dream experiments in his mind.
  • Visual thinking
This thinking phenomenon describes thinking in visual mode. It is also called Right brained learning, Picture thinking, Visual spatial learning. Before Tesla inventions were born in the real world, he built in his mind all preliminary work, without drawings and physical prototypes tests. One of the rare scientist who was also visual thinker was Albert Einstein. Thanks to this method he created his Theory of special relativity.
He possessed some extraordinary mental characteristics: an acute sense of hearing, visualization skills so vivid as to mimic reality, and bizarre eccentricities of habit and behavior. His visualizations enabled him to conduct realistic "dream experiments" while he was wide-awake in the lab. As a result, it is very tempting to suggest that, in his virtual laboratory, Tesla functioned one level above the lucid dream state. He had the ability, while being both physically and mentally awake, to run complex visualizations internally with all the realism and automaticity of a lucid dream world.

Salvador Dali

Have you seen his artworks? One can only fathom at the depths of this surrealist painter's lucid dream experiences which shows so evidently in his paintings. He apparently used dream incubation techniques to further enhance and program his dreams. He also delved, created and developed a method called "critical paranoia", which is a state of mind wherein one is in a state of delusion while maintaining his sanity.
Crazy genius, I say.

See more of his famous paintings HERE.

Chris Nolan
As the director of Memento and The Dark Knight, Chris Nolan mined his own lucid dreams to conceive Inception.
"I wanted to do this for a very long time, it's something I've thought about off and on since I was about 16," he told The Los Angeles Times. "I wrote the first draft of this script seven or eight years ago, but it goes back much further, this idea of approaching dream and the dream life as another state of reality."Intriguingly, Inception's main character, Dom Cobb, is played by Hollywood celebrity Leonardo DiCaprio who also had lucid dreams before starring in the movie. The role of Cobb in the tangled dream-within-a-dream plot is to implant an idea in the unconscious mind of his victim.
While the idea of shared dreaming currently resides in the land of science fiction, we can't escape the inherent truths of this movie: that the dream architects consciously manipulate the dreamscape with all the realism of waking life. Also like lucid dreams, however, the unconscious mind has its own agenda...

Stephen King

In his 1995 novel, Insomnia, Stephen King writes about lucid dreaming; about an insomniac who begins to see things that are invisible and intangible to others: colorful manifestations of life-force surrounding people (auras), and diminutive white-coated beings he calls "little bald doctors", based on their appearance and perceives other planes of reality and their influence upon the "real" world.

Could this renown writer have pulled inspirations from dreams and lucid dreaming?

“Dreams are just another part of life. To me, it’s like seeing something on the street you can use in your fiction.”

"I've always used dreams the way you'd use mirrors to look at something you couldn't see head-on, the way that you use a mirror to look at your hair in the back. To me that's what dreams are supposed to do. I think that dreams are a way that people's minds illustrate the nature of their problems. Or maybe even illustrate the answers to their problems in symbolic language."

The Wachowskis

Famous for the movie, The Matrix, Andy and Lana Washowski were inspired with the aspects and experiences of lucid dreaming and incorporated this concept on how one would know if this reality is merely an illusion or not, which is primarily the meaning of lucid dreaming.

Taking this and pulling ideas from different religions, beliefs and metaphysical awakenings, the sci-fi movie established itself into a single entity that webs out into a vast array of underlying messages.

Who are we? Why are we here? What is our purpose? Are we co-creators? Would you rather live in the matrix or wake up from it?

Will you take the red pill or blue pill?

Albert Einstein
The genius of the modern world, Einstein had mused on the concept of his dream world. One of his most famous quotes deals with the condition of consciousness: "Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one."

His theory of relativity was inspired by a dream whereby he was going down a mountainside ever faster and watching the appearance of the stars change as he approached the speed of light.

"Einstein's Dreams" is a 1992 novel by Alan Lightman. It fictionalizes Albert Einstein as a young scientist who is troubled by dreams as he works on his theory of relativity in 1905. The book consists of 30 chapters, each exploring one dream about time that Einstein had during this period. The framework of the book consists of a prelude, three interludes, and an epilogue. Einstein's friend, Michele Besso, appears in these sections. Each dream involves a conception of time. Some scenarios may involve exaggerations of true phenomena related to relativity, and some may be entirely fantastical. The book demonstrates the relationship each human being has to time, and thus spiritually affirms Einstein's theory of relativity.

Which reminds me, I need to find a copy of that book.

Lucid Dreaming with Brainwave Entrainment

Lucid Dreaming shouldn't be confused with Astral Projection. I had come across some articles on the web mixing the two up. Lucid Dreaming simply means that you are lucid in your dream; you KNOW you are dreaming, while Astral Projection is a totally different metaphysical experience. In lucid dreaming, the dreamer feels awake, is aware of dreaming, and is able to control events consciously.

Have you seen Christopher Nolan's film, "Inception"?  That pretty much sums up what Lucid Dreaming is all about.

But in this reality of ours, and not of the world of movies, in order to achieve lucid dreaming, we need to learn and understand the different triggers and methods that one should practice regularly. If you are very interested in starting your Lucid Dreaming Journey, here are a few tips to nudge you to the right direction:

First and foremost, do not be afraid. Igniting fear and putting it forward will just tap into your subconsciousness later on and will manifest itself during your dream experience. This could possibly be the culprit for people who experience sleep paralysis and nightmares.

Have Patience.
High expectations and being impatient and frustrated won't help at all. Patience is a very important factor, and just like anything else that you want to become good at, you need regular practice. Once you start to lucid dream, the feeling upon waking will be ecstatic.

We each go through four stages of sleep, also known as "sleep spindles". Stage One is where your body and mind start to relax and drift in and out of consciousness, while your brain produces natural theta waves. Stage Two is where your body temperature drops and your heart rate begins to slow, while your brain creates a different fast-paced rhythmic pattern. Stage Three is where your brain makes delta waves and slows down your brainwave pattern. It is here where you are no longer conscious of reality and your environment. The Fourth Stage is where most dreams happen, and this is when you will be having REM (Rapid Eye Movement). Your brainwaves become more active again, causing you to dream.

Of course, these sleep patterns and stages will differ from each individual. One person would be able to fall asleep within 5 minutes, while for another it would take maybe an hour before Stage One even happens. This is where you will need to know and understand your sleeping habits and patterns. It is a good advantage to use when you start preparing for your lucid dreaming experience.

Lucid Dream Triggers.
What works for another might not necessarily work for you, too. Some use daily meditation practice to prepare themselves for lucid dreaming. Others would use totem recognition during the day to do reality checks (—yes, the same totem concept as that in the film, "Inception"). Then there are those that use binaural beats and isochronic tones

Sound is such an important element that we perceive in our subconscious mind. Have you ever experienced a noise from your own real-world surroundings that had managed to seep in and materialize (in the same form or not) into that dream you just had seconds ago? Sound is an important element that also connects to lucid dreaming, and there are sound triggers that people use, too.

As mentioned earlier, our brainwave patterns change during the Four Stages of Sleep. Audio tracks with binaural beats and isochronic tones contain the same brainwave sound equivalents (Hertz) that can help to trigger these sleep spindles.

Just like the 8-hour long audio track we have composed, it contains four different sections that each contain various frequency formulas similar to that of the generic sleep stages that are naturally created by our brains.

In the first 2 hours we've used frequencies that range from 3-13Hz (Alpha-Theta range) to help calm your mind and feel deeply relaxed. There is a pleasurable feeling of floating and it will give effects such as stress reduction, relaxed awareness, release of serotonin, and an induction to sleep spindles as your mind and body allows itself into sleep. It also contains triggers for creativity and imagery and access to subconscious images as you doze off.

The second and third sections contain more of the Theta waves, which are also present in dreaming, sleep, deep meditation and creative inspiration. As you have already fallen asleep, the binaural beats tap into your subconsciousness as your mind prepares itself into a lucid dream state. The music is more steady so as not to interrupt your sleep.

The fourth and last section returns itself to the Alpha range with a mix of Theta and Delta. This is where deep sleep occurs and more often than not, the dream state. There is a decreased awareness of the physical world. This section also contains the Earth Resonance or Schumann Resonance, which will leave you feeling revitalized upon waking up.

We also would like to share a very helpful (and simple) How-To article on different methods to do and practice regularly, such as reality checks; the benefits of keeping a dream journal; learning when the best time to have a lucid dream is; and mnemonic induction of lucid dreaming.

Please read more about it HERE.

We hope you'll enjoy our first-ever 8 hour full audio track. Share with us your experiences in the comments section! We'd love to hear from you.

Given what we know, or have come to understand about what meditation is, there are numerous benefits that we can access from practicing meditation on a daily basis. There have been different experiments that Western Science is slowly understanding and accepting as a different approach or method to be used, mostly for self-healing purposes.

We have gathered different articles to share with you to further expand the understanding of this practice for our consciousness.

Meditation is a practice in which an individual trains the mind or induces a mode of consciousness, either to realize some benefit or as an end in itself.

The term meditation refers to a broad variety of practices (much like the term sports) that includes techniques designed to promote relaxation, build internal energy or life force (qi, ki, prana, etc.) and develop compassion, love, patience, generosity and forgiveness. A particularly ambitious form of meditation aims at effortlessly sustained single-pointed concentration meant to enable its practitioner to enjoy an indestructible sense of well-being while engaging in any life activity.

The word meditation carries different meanings in different contexts. Meditation has been practiced since antiquity as a component of numerous religious traditions and beliefs. Meditation often involves an internal effort to self-regulate the mind in some way. Meditation is often used to clear the mind and ease many health issues, such as high blood pressure, depression, and anxiety. It may be done sitting, or in an active way—for instance, Buddhist monks involve awareness in their day-to-day activities as a form of mind-training. Prayer beadsor other ritual objects are commonly used during meditation in order to keep track of or remind the practitioner about some aspect of the training.

Meditation may involve generating an emotional state for the purpose of analyzing that state—such as anger, hatred, etc.—or cultivating a particular mental response to various phenomena, such as compassion. The term "meditation" can refer to the state itself, as well as to practices or techniques employed to cultivate the state. Meditation may also involve repeating a mantra and closing the eyes. The mantra is chosen based on its suitability to the individual meditator. Meditation has a calming effect and directs awareness inward until pure awareness is achieved, described as "being awake inside without being aware of anything except awareness itself." In brief, there are dozens of specific styles of meditation practice, and many different types of activity commonly referred to as meditative practices. (source)

Mindfulness meditation is a technique adapted from Buddhist Vipassana meditation by which one learns to be mindful, "the intentional, accepting and non-judgmental focus of one's attention on the emotions, thoughts and sensations occurring in the present moment."Mindfulness meditation can become "a mental position for being able to separate a given experience from an associated emotion, and can facilitate a skilful or mindful response to a given situation." Here are some articles we would like to share with you. We hope this further awakens your understanding of what meditation can do for us, and for the world.

1.) How Different Types of Meditation Affect the Brain
By RICK NAUERT PHD

Be it mindfulness, zen, acem, meditation drumming, chakra, Buddhist, or transcendental meditation, there are countless ways to meditate. Researchers are now parsing how the brain works during different kinds of meditation.

“No one knows how the brain works when you meditate. That is why I’d like to study it,” says Jian Xu, M.D., a physician at St. Olavs Hospital and a researcher at the Department of Circulation and Medical Imaging at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

Along with colleagues at the University of Oslo and the University of Sydney, Xu’s research was recently published in the journal Frontiers in Human Neuroscience.

Different meditation techniques can actually be divided into two main groups. One type is concentrative meditation, where the meditating person focuses attention on his or her breathing or on specific thoughts, and in doing so, suppresses other thoughts.

The other type may be called nondirective meditation, where the person who is meditating effortlessly focuses on his or her breathing or on a meditation sound, but beyond that the mind is allowed to wander as it pleases. Some modern meditation methods are of this nondirective kind.

2.) What is the best music for meditation?
by River Ford

What is the best quality music for meditation? This has got to be the question of the century, and in all honesty, there are many different answers depending upon what you would like to get out of your meditation and  what your style of meditation might be – Ie, What is enjoyable for you to listen to whilst meditating. ? In this article, I will cover 3 different types of meditation music -

Ambient music:
This is of course one of the most popular ways for people to meditate. It’s soothing. It’s melodic and music that’s gentle for the soul. It can assist us in the quest for gaining greater peace of mind.

Binaural beats:
Binaural beats are heavenly. They truly are. Have you experienced them yet whilst meditating? If not, please do so… NOW! They make the process of meditation seem to happen at a much faster speed.  Some have even reported that we can meditate as deep as a Zen Monk with binaural beats.

Brainwave entrainment:
Brainwave Entrainment is a rapidly growing field that involves the study of how changing brainwaves by natural means, will allow people to effortlessly enter states of increased intelligence, creativity, relaxation, pure energy, and more. Here is a little of the science behind this fascinating subject: The brain is made up of billions of brain cells called neurons, which communicate with each other using electrical signals. All of these neurons sending signals at once, produce a large amount of electrical activity, commonly called a Brainwave Pattern. Researchers and scientists have found that different bands of brainwaves, are associated with different mental states. For example, the brainwaves of a sleeping person are much different than the brainwaves of a person who is awake.

3.) Proof that Group Meditation can Change the World
  BY STEVEN BANCARZ

Meditation is not just a way to cope with stress and seek inner knowledge.  It literally has the potential to literally transform the world. In 1978, what is known as the “Maharishi Effect” took place when a group of 7000 individuals over the course of 3 weeks were meditating in hopes of positively effecting the surrounding city. They were able to literally transform the collective energy of the city which reduced global crime rates, violence, and casualties during the times of their meditation by an average of 16%. Suicide rates and automobile accidents also were reduced with all variables accounted for. In fact, there was a 72% reduction in terrorist activity during the times at which this group was meditation.

Almost 50 studies have been done further confirming the benefits of global meditation and it’s direct impact on everything in the world, even so far as to have the results published in the Journal of Crime and Justice in 1981. We know meditation has endless health and psychological benefits, but it is now being explored by politics and sociology because of its undeniable energetic impact.

Grounding: The Barefoot Healing Secret

While we were growing up, my father would encourage us to go out to the garden barefoot. He kept reminding us that there is a natural source of energy from the ground. Of course as kids, running around without shoes or slippers was a fun thing. Decades later, my father came home from a business trip and told us about this elderly man that he met outside the hotel that he stayed at.

The old man, who sat on a bench by the hotel's front lawn, was being accompanied by his daughter and her husband. He looked very weak and his eyes looked dazed from time to time. My father noticed the handsome cane he kept by his side, and the tennis shoes he wore, and being the friendly chatter that he is, struck a conversation starting off by admiring the walking stick. He learned that the old man was just six years older than my 62-year old dad and according to the daughter, the man wasn't sick or anything, but through the past couple of years his demeanor drastically changed. My father sat down next to him and offered advise about receiving natural ion energy from the earth. The young husband and wife held a curious interest, but there was a different sparkle in the old man's eyes, as my father noticed.

The old man told him that he grew up and worked in a farm and that he did remember feeling different when he'd walk his fields barefooted. He started to complain about the hectic, compressed feeling about living in the city and how the seemingly fast-paced attitude of it all made him feel very tired all the time.

Their conversation was interrupted when my father saw his friend inside the lobby. He excused himself and walked in. A few minutes later as he and his friend came out of the lobby, he saw the old man, the daughter and her husband about to board a van. The old man went in first, and my father noticed a very odd thing.

He had no shoes on.

My dad approached them to say goodbye, and the old man looked at him with a smile.

He told my father that he reminded him of something very important, which he had forgotten about for decades. There was a different aura about him. There was a mix of excitement, happiness and real-time presence. The dazed look was gone, overridden by something else. Like Delight.

The daughter came over to explain how excited her father suddenly seemed to be as he weirdly took off his tennis shoes and handed them over to the son-in-law. He told her he'd be walking barefoot in their garden when they get home.

I am always reminded of this story whenever I feel myself feeling stuck in a rut. I am reminded to kick off my shoes and let the natural flow of earth's energy seep in me. For some reason, I would always feel refreshed.

The Earth has a natural flow of electrons that not many know are beneficial to our health. Why do you think other people would advise to stay connected to nature?

The atoms in our body are comprised of positively charged protons, negatively charged electrons, and neurons, and electricity flows through them, making our body electrically charged and enabling us to be conductors of energy. The Earth's surface is electrically conductive and maintains a negative charge with its free electron supply.

As reported in the Journal of Environmental and Public Health:
"Mounting evidence suggests that the Earth's negative potential can create a stable internal bioelectrical environment for the normal functioning of all body systems. Moreover, oscillations of the intensity of the Earth's potential may be important for setting the biological clocks regulating diurnal body rhythms, such as cortisol secretion."
Letting the soles of your feet be in contact with the earth and letting our body absorb the electrons, this is also known as grounding. You will often come across this term while searching for meditation videos or spiritual growth help tips. Grounding offers us a way to openly be one with the natural flow of things. Grounding will provide us with health benefits such as reduced headaches, hormonal balance, reduced fatigue, more energy, feeling revitalized and normalizes the body’s biological rhythms to name a few.

Water is an essential factor for the natural healing process that our body goes through every minute of every day. When we are well hydrated, it is easy for electricity to conduct and flow, making grounding easier to achieve.

Let one of our original music tracks be your audio accompaniment as you stroll along, allowing your feet kiss the earth. We added nature sound elements such as rain and thunder, for an enjoyable, relaxing experience. Rain is water, and water symbolizes Life. The sounds of thunder resembles the thoughts of electricity flying within the storm clouds. This audio can also be listened to during meditation sessions or before sleeping.

We hope you enjoyed today's article, and may it help you in finding balance and harmony within yourself. We hope that you will remember to take some time out from your busy day to spend a moment out with nature. Walk barefoot in your house, while strolling the beach, or in the garden, and be One with the Earth.

Color and Sound Healing: Amplifying Our Senses

The people behind Brainwave Power Music were recently engaged in a part of a project collaboration with a group called Aesthetics & Therapeutics Lab, consisting of art therapist Dr. Marina Masic and media artist Jakob LeBaron Dwight, who formed to initiate experiments and installations in art and healing.

This project collaboration was held last June 2014 and the Aesthetics & Therapeutics Lab had installed their first immersive multisensory environment in the Vortex Immersion Media Dome in Los Angeles, as part of the group immersive Art exhibition MORPHOS.

What are MultiSensory Environments?
"Multi-Sensory Environments (MSE's) are artificial or enriched environments that can be configured to interface with any individual level of abilities. MSE is a “dynamic interactive process utilizing the natural process of sensory stimulation and feedback analysis from the environment.” It is a designed space to interact with a person’s ‘Sensory diet’ by utilizing Controlled Sensory Input (CSI). MSE's are devoted to all of the senses; different pieces of equipment provide visual, auditory, olfactory, tactile, vestibular, and proprioceptive sensory inputs."
 - source

Aesthetics & Therapeutics Lab conceived four modules designed to investigate different areas of functioning using Multi Sensory Environments:
  • Color Fields and Changes
  • Light and Sound Environments (LSE)
  • Perception: Use of Abstract Paintings for Joint Attending and Interactivity
  • Spa & Dream Space Consciousness

Our own music was used in their Light and Sound Environment (LSE) installation that involved light and sound therapy. The main concept for this was to stimulate healing and consciousness through the different spectrums of color, light, as well as audio and motion perceptions. Their target usage were for the treatment of Autism, Traumatic Brain Injury, PTSD, depression, OCD, anxiety, insomnia, circadian rhythm disorder, Alzheimer’s and Dementia, Learning and Communication Disorders.
The Project Method of the LIGHT & SOUND ENVIRONMENTS module:
LSE is a module ATL has been working on composed of Immersive Spatial Light and Sound tracking in the environment. Applying the principles of Phototherapy, Light is a beneficial communication technology that can be adapted for healing. The principle of Sound is a second major component to this module.  By utilizing surround sound speakers in the dome Environment, as well as Binaural beats, a subtle effect of sound integrates in a 3 Dimensional experience.  Incorporating MSE principles of directing the viewer’s engagement to follow various ambient sounds in different space works to promote spatialization awareness and a greater sense of proprioception.

Additionally, Binaural Beats and isochronic tones for brainwave entrainment will also be integrated to explore effects of vibratory technology.

Listen to snippets of Brainwave Power Music's audio tracks on their website, and see the beautiful imagery they used for this exhibition:

The video below is the full-length version that was used in ATL's project:

We do believe that color and sound plays an important role in the balancing and healing of our individual mind and bodies. Such with interior decorators who recommend certain color spectrums for different types of rooms to correctly exert the needed mood, sound offers a similar auditory healing aspect, and we were very excited to be a part of this project.

We hope that more artists, such as Marina and Jakob, will continue to flourish in their arts and exhibitions, and hopefully awaken and engage more audiences about the mysterious healing aspects of lights and sound as we, ourselves, continue to create more sound therapy music using binaural beats and isochronic tones and provide everyone the type of auditory healing that would resonate well with them.
