SOUND THERAPY: Taking a Holistic Approach to Life

Most ancient civilizations used the powerful benefit of sound and vibration. They composed music based on the perfect mathematical proportions that can be found in the construction of many sacred temples, space and time. You can tune yourself to the perfect rhythm by opening your inner ear to the healing music. It also cures sicknesses. In Egypt, when priests sing hymns to the Gods they sing the seven vowels in due succession and the sound has such euphony that men listen to it instead of the flute and the lyre. The Egyptians believed that vowel sounds were sacred, so much so that their written hieroglyphic language contains no vowels. We can, therefore, assume that vowel sound mantra carried a powerful connotation for their priests.

In modern times, we are aware that the hypotenuse of such a triangle is a vital concept relating directly to the question of harmony. And anything we say about harmony is associated first and foremost with sound. This innate frequency can be therapeutic. It is so called sound therapy. It can be described as the frequency of vibration that is most natural to a specific organ or system such as the heart, liver or lungs. All cells radiate sound as a consequence of their metabolic processes. There is an interaction between the cells own sounds and those imposed by the environment, including those applied by sound healing devices.
High frequency sounds trigger the brain and affect cognitive functions such as thinking, spatial perception and memory. Listening to these sounds increases our attentiveness and concentration.

Sound can set a mood. In other words, some sounds simply make us feel better than others. Whether our conscious minds are paying attention or not, our bodies take their cues from these sounds and rhythms, knowing when to get energized and when to slow down. According to research, sound can also help us reduce stress, create a deep sense of well-being and even promote healing.

Holistic medicine nurtures a cooperative relationship among all those involved, leading towards optimal attainment of the physical, mental emotional, social and spiritual aspects of health. Taking a holistic approach involves seeking the tools that will help us attract our desires and find personal power.

Sound therapy is definitely the cutting edge of healing like yoga and meditation. The fact is, we are already using sound therapy in our life. So even if you’re not interested in spending in a singing bowl, sound healing is still available to you. Go for a walk and enjoy nature’s own healing harmonies or better yet close your eyes, relax and listen to this amazing binaural beat pure tone from us.
